Chime, Franny Billingsley
DNF- I struggled with this book and just couldn't get into it. The main character drove me crazy.
Glass Houses, Rachel Caine
The Ghost and the Goth, Stacey Kade
Queen of the Dead, Stacey Kade
Shatter Me, Tahereh Mafi
Goliath, Scott Westerfeld
Ingenue, Jillian Larkin
Beauty Queens, Libba Bray
The Girl of Fire and Thorns, Rae Carson
The Iron Knight, Julie Kagawa
Bunheads, Sophie Flack
All These Things I've Done, Gabrielle Zevin
Not that kind of Girl, Siobhan Vivian
Well this is it so far. As you can tell I've read quite a bit since coming back from BEA. Even read a few books I got from BEA. There have been a few DNF's for me and those are so hard. You start reading a book that has great buzz and you just don't feel it. It sucks honestly. Because you might adore the author, but the book just doesn't work for you.
I hope everyone is getting some great summer reading done. Have you read anything that has completely blown you away? For me, Shatter Me and The Girl of Fire and Thorns. Has anything you read not lived up to your expectation? For those of you who comment with the answer the question, you will be entered to win a copy of Mark Peter Hughes' dystopian novel, A Crack in the Sky. I have yet to read it, but it sounds fantastic!
Beauty Queens blew me away. It was such a great concept and brilliantly written!
ReplyDeleteI just read Purple Daze and was very disappointed. But, I did also read Wither (finally!) and that was awesome :)
ReplyDeleteNot That Kind of Girl kind of dissappointed me. I loved Siobhan Vivian's Same Difference but her recent book just didn't do it for me.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read Shatter Me though!
I was a little disappointed with Delerium resently :(
ReplyDeleteShatter Me absolutely blew me away, but that wasn't a recent read...so I'd say The Near Witch. It was so much more than I thought it was going to be and I want to reread it right now. That, and Love Story by Jennifer Echols. I expected to like that, but it's now my favorite of Echols' books. Also, And Then Things Fall Apart was incredible too. It wasn't what I expected, but I loved it all the same.
ReplyDeleteAs for some disappointments, Dark Parties wasn't as good as I'd hoped and the plot wasn't what I had even thought it was going to be. The Cellar was another one that disappointed me. I thought it would be creepy, but it was nearly a DNF for me. I somehow powered through, even though I didn't enjoy it.
Wildefire by karsten Knight blew me away. I was a little disappointed with Original Sin by Lisa Desrochers...It was okay, just not as good as I had expected.
ReplyDeleteI'm reading Beauty Queens right now and I love it! :)
ReplyDeleteI've read most of these books!
ReplyDeleteI too LOVED SHATTER ME. It was amazing. I have The Girl of Fire and Thorns from NetGalley and have read nothing be great things about it!
Another great dystopia I read a while ago that comes out soon is A LONG, LONG SLEEP by Anna Sheehan. It was great!
Thanks for the giveaway. Didn't see an end date, hope I'm not too late!
