Holocaust Remembrance Day
Today we remember all the fallen men, women and children who were lost to the world during a very trying time in World War II Europe.
A few books to recommend for reading during this somber day:
Night, Elie Wiesel.
The Book Thief, Marcus Zusak
Diary of Anne Frank, Anne Frank
I received and e-mail from Katrina Alvarez of Wiredset.com and she wanted me to mention that New York Times Bestselling Author, Ben Sherwood Sherwood is currently being featured on The Huffington Post with an excerpt from the chapter of The Survivors Club for today: Huffington Post a lengthy chapter looking at survivors of the Nazi concentration camps.
From Katrina directly: "Also, as your site is all about books, feel free to let your readers know about The Survivors Club"
I hope everyone reflects about what this day means in the history of the world.

I didn't know that was today. Night really is a good book.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know this was the day of remembrance. Jewish people light yahrzeit candles to commemorate the dead. One way to remember might be to buy one. They are under $1. Also try to go to one of the Holocaust Museums. There is one in Washington, DC and in New York City. I went to the one in Washington and it is chilling to see the names of people who used to live in a town. Whole towns such as my grandfather's were completely gone.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog, Laura.
